Why do you want to be the Featured Queen and share your story?

My main goal is to share that having curly hair is such a huge blessing it makes us so unique and everyone should be proud of their curls. So many people are jealous of us curly cuties yet some of us do not embrace the curls. I would love to show everyone that although our hair may take a little more work unlike other hair textures it is all worth it with the incredible results we get.

When did you decide to go natural?

I’ve always rocked the natural curls ever since I was little. I did have some awkward phases where I would straighten some of my hair but overall I have always embraced my curls. Although in 2017 I did start to slowly incorporate curly hair-friendly products which is when I really saw a difference in my curls.

What made you go natural?

I have always rocked my natural curls. The main reason is that my mom also has curly hair so at a young age she was able to tame my mane. I decided to take better care of my hair because my hair would be so frizzy and the curls would fall towards the end of the day and I wanted to change that.

How would you describe your ā€œHair Typeā€?

I would describe my hair type from 3a to 3b.

What was it like growing up with your hair type?

In school I was called curly fries, people always asked to touch my hair and I even had an incident where I was in church and a little girl behind me was playing with my hair where she was pulling it and watched it curl up to the point where she actually yanked my hair. Overall growing up with my hair type has brought some attention to me without even knowing it.

What does a ā€œwash dayā€ look like for you?

I wash my hair every other day and I do not always stick to the same products since I do love to see how new products work on my hair. I shampoo and condition my hair like normal but once a week I do deep condition my hair. Now I do not own a heated cap so when I deep condition I wrap my hair with a grocery bag and use a hairdryer to add heat. When drying my hair after it is soaking wet, I use a cotton t-shirt to avoid frizz.

Once I’m done I apply coconut oil or a leave-in conditioner (depending on the day) by raking it through my hair and then add whatever hair cream I am using at that time in a scrunching method. I love to air dry my hair when I have time and once it is fully dry I fluff towards my roots using a pick to add volume to my hair.

What is your perspective on having curly hair?

It is so much fun having curly hair! I can style my hair using the same products yet my hair can look so different which is so cool! Having curly hair is so unique and it makes me stand out in a crowd! I also love the fact that because of my hair I am a part of this huge community online where we show love to one another and give great tips and tricks. I love my curls!

What is the first thing you check when you try a new product?

I do not check anything in particular just making sure the products I use are sulfate and silicone-free. I will give any product a try! I like to see how my hair reacts to it, meaning did it define my curls, did it make my hair frizzy, did my curls last the entire day. Sometimes I do try the product more than once since you know curly hair can never look the same.

What is your hair length goal? And Why

I would love to have long hair around mid-back length. The only time I had long hair was when I was little and I would love to experience long hair as an adult. It seems as if my hair does not like to grow past my shoulders but one day I will achieve this length!

When did you decide to try different products for your hair and why?

I started to use different products during my freshman year of college in 2017. Before I would use just about any product and after doing a little research I learned the products I was using were very damaging for curly hair so I made this switch to find some that are a little more curly hair friendly.

Tell us about the beginning of your curly hair journey?

I have always embraced my curls but once I started treating my curls with a little more love, I researched the type of hair I had and the type of products that would work on my hair. I noticed a difference right away when I learned to eliminate bad ingredients, I saw my hair was less frizzy and I had more curl definition. It really is a journey you do have to reteach your curls and fade away from products you grew up on but the end results are truly amazing!

How was working with CQK? What are the changes or improvements that Curly Queen Kit made in your curly hair journey?

I love working with Curly Queen Kit! The subscription box is the best! I love receiving new full-size products that I would most likely not have known about if it wasn’t for Curly Queen Kit. Since being subscribed to Curly Queen Kit I have found some new products that have become my favorite and I use them just about every day!

How does CQK work into your daily life?

I have been able to add more products into my curly hair routine since I do love changing it up and not use the same products every day.

How’s the effect of Royalty Curls products on your curls?

I love the Royalty Curls royalty oil hair growth & scalp treatment and curl refreshing spray! I use these products all the time. They smell so good and my curls absolutely love them!

If you were to describe your curly hair journey in one word, what would it be? And why?

Satisfying! Unlike other featured Queens, I didn’t have to start from scratch when training my hair. I already had a great base and just changing and adding new steps to my hair routine made me so happy and satisfied with the results I was seeing.

If you can tell anyone starting their journey health or hair, what would it be?Ā Anything Else To Share?

The journey for curly hair is a trial and error kind of process you have to be patient. Find out what works, what doesn’t. The journey may be a little frustrating but trust me once you figure out what works for your hair type the end results are going to be all worth it!

What is your message to the curly girl's community out there?

Not everyone is blessed with curly hair so be proud! Embrace your beautiful curls! Keep sharing your tips and tricks because I love to learn new things about taking care of and styling my hair.
